Streets of Dubbo

There was going to be something else this week - but life happens right? Instead I did this, I hope you like it

I used to think that waiting for this place to change
Was like sitting at Sandy Beach, waiting for a wave
Or my the chance of my return would be akin
To having my filmclip premiere up Bourke Hill at the old drive in

Streets of Dubbo are quiet
It’s only Wednesday night
And I’m resigned to staying here
Longer than I thought I might
Tomorrow morning I’ll be lined up
With everybody else at Fitzroy St roundabout
Until I find myself another way out

I had to come back but the motivation
Is as empty as the pool on a winter’s day
Why can’t I just go to the park
commandeer that rocket ship and fly away

Streets of Dubbo are quiet
Even though it’s Friday night
Looks like I’m staying
Longer than I thought I might
But I’m beginning to see the good
In having old friends close by
Maybe I’ll give this hometown thing another try

Can no longer see out of town
From the back oval of the old playground
Of all of the things we've left to say
Seems we’ve both grown up while I was away

The streets of Dubbo are quiet
On a Monday afternoon
I don’t see a chance that I’ll be leaving soon

We’ve come to an understanding
For all the years it took
Funny how you always find what you need
In the last place you think to look
